WHAT THE RECORD SHOWS
Trump announced the pardon on May 26, 2025, the day before Jenkins was due to report to begin a ten-year prison sentence, CNN reported. The Justice Department’s clemency list dates the grant May 27, 2025.
RESPONSE
Jenkins told DC News Now he “thanks God and President Trump” and Ed Martin for the pardon. His lawyers’ sentencing memo had said he “adamantly maintains his innocence,” NBC News reported.
Correction. An earlier version said Jenkins was pardoned days before he was due to report to prison. Trump announced the pardon the day before his report date, and the Justice Department list dates the grant May 27, 2025. Corrected September 18, 2026.
